  • Dec 7 - Attended Capitol Tree Lighting Ceremony
  • Dec 7 - Joined Supreme Court Commission on Justice for Children Chaired by Justice Charles Bethel
  • Dec 8 - Invited to join Bill Nigut’s Political Rewind radio program
  • Dec 9 - Met with Appleseed ED Michael Waller about proposed legislation on school disciplinary tribunals
  • Dec 12 - Hosted Emory lobbyists at my law office with Elena and Becky to discuss 2023 health care issues
  • Dec 13 - Hosted DeKalb House freshmen, Sally Sears, and Dan Baskerville to discuss SPLOST local legislation
  • Dec 13 - Gave presentation to Mental Health Caucus on proposals of Workforce Subcommittee of Behavioral Health Commission
  • Dec 14 - Visited with Decatur high tech firm on proposed legislation for car license readings
  • Dec 14 - Had lunch with Brookhaven City Council to review 2023 local legislation issues
  • Dec 14 - Joined State Bar Advisory Committee on Legislation
  • Dec 15 - Completed reviews and offered edits for Senate Development Authority Study Committee and Behavioral Health Commission Reports
  • Dec 15 - Attended Altamaha Riverkeeper Board meeting
  • Dec 16 - Attended MARTA event to preview purchase of new rail cars
  • Dec 19 - Had lunch with new DeKalb School Board member Whitney McGinnis
  • Three Christmas Chorale programs— my favorites!!
  • Hosted 3 holiday parties at my house!

DEKALB TOWN HALL MEETINGS

Members of the DeKalb House Legislative Delegation will host a series of virtual and in-person town hall meetings to hear from DeKalb citizens and to discuss the Legislative Session. The meetings will take place on Thursday, January 5, 2023, from 6:00 - 7:30 p.m. via Zoom (register at https://bit.ly/3FuPY3L) and on Saturday, January 7, 2023, from 1:00 - 2:30 p.m. at the Porter Sanford Performing Arts Center in Decatur.

The DeKalb House Legislative Delegation for the 2023-2024 legislative term will include State Representatives Karen Bennett (D-Stone Mountain), Doreen Carter (D-Lithonia), Viola Davis (D-Stone Mountain), Karla Drenner (D-Avondale Estates), Becky Evans (D-Atlanta), Scott Holcomb (D-Atlanta), Dar'shun Kendrick (D-Lithonia), Billy Mitchell (D-Stone Mountain), Angela Moore (D-Decatur), Mary Margaret Oliver (D-Decatur), Shea Roberts (D-Atlanta), Rhonda Taylor (D-Conyers), State Representatives-elect Long Tran (D-Dunwoody), Karen Lupton (D-Chamblee), Omari Crawford (D-Decatur), Imani Barnes (D-Tucker) and Saira Draper (D-Atlanta).

OUT AND ABOUT

I enjoyed celebrating with MARTA Chair Thomas Worthy, Board members Stacy Blakley and Bill Floyd, and Rep. Kyle Pirkle on the purchase of 200+ MARTA train cars. Progress and modernization after 40 years of service! Michael Rafshoon newest MARTA employee - welcome!
